PDP11s and punched tape - who needs pixels?

This blog is about making Linux work on a variety of computers, especially lower specification machines. You don’t need the fastest computer available to do some word processing, e-mail, web and to manage your photos. Some people are using command line applications for everyday tasks; I need a fully featured word-processor, spreadsheet, graphics and presentation packages so I use X windows but with SLIM and dwm rather than Gnome.

The title comes from the Linux command CTRL-ALT-F7. This key combination brings you back to the X server once you have visited a glass teletype by pressing CTRL-ALT-F1 (or F2, or F3 &c).
